History
TePe was founded in 1965 when wood-carver Henning Eklund developed a new kind of dental stick with professors of the School of Dentistry in Malmö. It was triangular to fit the natural shape of the interdental space. From its inception, TePe has focused on designing interdental cleaning and preventive dental care products based on the most up-to-date scientific oral health research findings.
In 1973, Henning's son Bertil Eklund further developed the business by manufacturing the first toothbrush. It was designed with the characteristic user-friendly handle that TePe is now known for worldwide. Today more than 25% of all toothbrushes purchased in Sweden carry the TePe brand name.
In the early nineties, the interdental brush made its entrance, after more in-depth and thorough clinical research. It rapidly became our leading product as company growth expanded.
In times of globalization, TePe has chosen to stay located where it all began, in Malmö. The company is highly respected in the local business community and is still owned by the Eklund family. Headquarters and all production remain under the same roof for a reliable and flexible manufacturing process.
TePe's close collaboration with the professional dental community has resulted in a growing number of efficient oral care products that meet up to the high demands of both professionals and consumers in more than 50 countries.
TePe's first subsidiary was established in Germany in 1998 to better serve the needs of our clientele. Offices were opened in the United States in 2003. Our offices in Spain opened in 2005, in the Netherlands in 2007 and in Italy in 2010.
